At this moment in time, I'm waiting to see if the famed "Prego Pizza" from Skipolini's in Walnut Creek was worth the $28 I just paid. Testimonials all say within 24 after eating this pizza, labor comes on, so...even though I've exhausted all other options and said I had resigned myself to being patient, I drove all the way to Walnut Creek for this. My last shot.
This whole past week has been about me trying to get this baby out. Started doing yoga poses and pressing pressure points on Friday. Even got a pedicure, hoping the gal would focus the foot massage on those areas. At one point, Jill had suggested I eat some "labor salad" to speed up the process, so on Sunday, I went to the store and bought watercress and bleu cheese crumbles, and added walnuts and balsamic when I got home. I ate one serving, and was full.
Monday afternoon was my 39-week OB appointment, and Dr. Loanzon asked if I wanted her to check me and strip my membranes. I said, "Yes, please," so she did both. She reported that I was dilated to 2 cm--a week and a half before that I was at a 1--and that if anything was going to happen from the stripping, it would likely happen in the next 24 hours. She also told me I had to walk for the next two hours, so Troy and I headed to the mall to walk. Well, all that did was make my back hurt. So I went home and ate TWO MORE servings of labor salad, and bounced on my yoga ball. Still no labor.
Tuesday was full of lots of walking--Costco, every aisle in Target, the mall again. This time at the mall, Jennifer and Josiah joined us! And before we finished, Grandma Lety came and picked up Troy, because we were all just certain something would happen that night, since everyone was off work on Wednesday for Veterans Day. Even went and got a foot massage that evening. Nothing.
Wednesday, Mark and I went to Target to pick up a few things, including Evening Primrose Oil, which is another suggested labor-inducer. We spent most of the day just hanging out, and finally went to Newman to get Troy, since I just had a feeling nothing was going to happen.
Thursday, Troy and I went BACK to the mall and walked around. I did more yoga ball bouncing at home, blah blah blah. Nothing and more nothing. But then...Thursday night, the contractions I'd been having for the past two months intensified. They were short, but boy were they strong. So I started timing them after we put Troy to bed. For a good hour, they were coming around every six minutes, and were lasting for a minute. Kaiser said that if this is your second baby, you should call them when contractions are 5-7 minutes apart, since labor tends to progress more rapidly the second time around. But...I wasn't feeling any pain yet, so I didn't call. And it's a good thing I didn't, because once I got into bed around 10:30pm, all the action stopped. UGH!
Friday, I announced that I was done trying. By this time, I'd heard every Christian cliche there is and was just over it. And I thought I was completely done trying things. And then I remembered the Prego Pizza that Dr. Loanzon had casually mentioned, and I brought it up to Mark. He told me that his coworkers had talked about that, too, so I decided that since I didn't have anything to do today, I'd go. So here we sit. Waiting some more.
Gonna head out for a walk in a bit. Not sure what it'll do other than keep me occupied. *sigh*
Come on, Little One. Don't be like your momma!

Six weeks to go!
So far so good still around here!
Lately this girl is moving A LOT. She's getting hiccups at least once a day, just like her brother. She makes these rapid movements that startle me, but apparently, those are fairly normal!
Not sure what else to say at this point. She's been to two concerts--Dave Matthews Band and Weird Al. And my back pain has gone away, but the cankles have started making an appearance. Other than that, nothing new! I hear that I'm so tiny from one person, and then a minute later I'm asked if I'm due in the next few days. So, I'm just choosing not to believe anyone and to believe everyone at the same time. Figure that out!

3D Ultrasound Time!
We got to see our girl's face!! Well, as much as she'd show us, anyway. Based on this experience, we think she has a flair for the dramatic. I see her saying, "No cameras, please." Or maybe, "This isn't my good side!" But Nana thinks maybe she's just shy. MY daughter, shy?? Right!
Below are a few photos from that day. I was one day shy of 29 weeks. And we have a 13-minute video of the session, but I'm not going to share that unless I can figure out how to edit it, because the tech started out by proving her gender to her daddy (because he was STILL in denial that she's a she. But now, after finally being able to recognize the image, he's convinced).
In addition to this first, last night, Adayla had her first hiccups! I think she got frustrated, too, because the longer they went on, the more wiggly she got. We'll see if she has them as often as Troy did! Here's our amazing girl!

The Big One
Well, last week we had the "big" 20 week ultrasound! At first, I wasn't sure if we were going to have it. Originally, they scheduled the appointment for around 24 weeks, so I checked with Dr. Loanzon and she wasn't sure why they would have done that. So I called Radiology and asked for an appointment closer to 20 weeks, and they put me down for July 1 at 1pm.
Well, July 1 at 10am rolls around and Kaiser calls to say they can't see me! Now, if you are a worrier like I am, this is terrible news. I had been trying hard to remain calm about this appointment--since this is the one where they check all the measurements to make sure your baby is developing normally--so this really disappointed me. I rescheduled for July 10, and wondered how I was going to make it through the next week and a half without stressing. But then I realized that I had a conflict with the new date/time, so I called Kaiser back to fix it, and the nurse I spoke with worked some things out so that I was able to get in at 2pm on the 1st! So I only had to wait an extra hour, which I praised God for!
So the gal that did the ultrasound this time was very friendly and talkative (not like with Troy's.) Before she started, she explained that she'd turn the screen so that we could follow along with everything she was doing. I also confirmed with her that she wasn't allowed to tell us if she found anything "wrong". But as she went along, she kept saying things like, "This looks great," and, "She looks good." Very encouraging! And she finally did say that, as far as she could tell, Adayla looked perfect!
The next step was just waiting for the doctor to confirm. And since I didn't get a phone call right away, I had a feeling she would do just that. And she did, in an email a couple hours later. Her exact words were, "...Everything looks reassuring... . No need for further testing at this time."
YES!

Ultrasound--11 weeks
Got to see our little lime again this week. Everything is looking good! At the beginning of the ultrasound, he/she was wiggling all over the place. Then all the sudden, poof! Asleep. So cute.
Video
Still not a lot else to say. I'm getting fat because I'm not eating well. I think I'm about done with the nausea that's been plaguing me, so maybe I'll start craving healthier foods. We shall see!
Updated DD is 11/16/15.

First Sonogram
All is well so far, as you can see by this image:
Not much else to say at this point. I'm feeling sick on a daily basis, and hoping it will end with the first trimester.
Next appointment is on April 27, and the little one will actually look like a baby and not a bumpy bean.
